Madam C.J. Walker (born Sarah Breedlove; December 23, 1867 – May 25, 1919) was an African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist. She is recorded as the first female self-made millionaire in America.

​

Her real name was Sarah B. She transformed herself from an uneducated farm laborer and laundress into one of the twentieth century’s most successful, self-made women entrepreneurs. And one of the first black millionaires in America! She's was famous and is still well known for her homemade line of hair care products for Black women.
